Your journey is unique, and I’m honored to walk alongside you as you discover new insights and possibilities.

The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Ashley accepts Aetna, Lyra, PacificSource, Trillium, YCCO, and Providence insurance. She can also provide a superbill for clients that have out of network benefits through their insurance carrier. Her supervisees all accept cash at this time as insurance companies will not allow students or associates to panel with them.

This can be confusing! Here’s a simple breakdown:

  • Psychiatrist (MD/DO): A medical doctor who specializes in mental health. They can diagnose and treat mental illness and are licensed to prescribe medication.
  • Psychologist (PhD/PsyD): A professional with a doctoral degree in psychology. They are trained in psychotherapy and can perform psychological testing and evaluations. They typically do not prescribe medication (with some exceptions by state).
  • Therapist/Counselor (LCSW, LMFT, LPC): A professional with a master's degree in a field like social work, counseling, or marriage and family therapy. They are trained and licensed to provide psychotherapy and are the most common type of mental health provider for talk therapy.

here is no single reason to seek therapy. People benefit from it for many different reasons. Consider therapy if you are experiencing:

  • Persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety, anger, or hopelessness.
  • Difficulty managing daily life, work, or relationships.
  • The impact of a traumatic event, past or present.
  • Challenges with a major life transition (e.g., new job, move, loss of a loved one).
  • A desire for personal growth and a deeper understanding of yourself.
  • Harmful behaviors or substance use issues.
  • A general feeling of being "stuck" or overwhelmed.

The length of therapy varies depending on your needs and goals. Some people benefit from just a few sessions, while others may continue for several months or sometimes even years.

Yes, therapist confidentiality is a crucial component to successful therapy. We adhere to strict HIPPA guidelines which protect your privacy. However, it is important to note there are times when this confidentiality must be broken, like when a client says they plan to hurt themselves or someone else. We will go over limits of confidentiality together so that you can understand my legal obligations around this important topic.

Trauma-Informed Care is a framework that should be applied in all healthcare settings, not just therapy. It involves a shift from asking "What's wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?". The core principles are:

  • Safety: Ensuring physical and emotional safety.
  • Trustworthiness and Transparency: Building trust through clear communication and consistent boundaries.
  • Peer Support: Integrating individuals with lived experience into the care model.
  • Collaboration and Mutuality: Leveling power dynamics and working in partnership with the client.
  • Empowerment, Voice, and Choice: Recognizing the client's strengths and providing them with control over their treatment.
  • Cultural, Historical, and Gender Issues: Actively moving past stereotypes and biases.

It leverages the unique characteristics of horses to facilitate therapeutic change. These include:

  • Immediate, Non-Judgmental Feedback: Horses are prey animals and are highly attuned to non-verbal cues and emotional states. They react honestly to a client's behavior and energy, providing real-time biofeedback without social judgment.
  • Relationship and Attachment: Building a relationship with a large, powerful animal can help patients work through attachment issues, build trust, and practice empathy and boundary-setting in a safe context.
  • Mindfulness and Somatic Experience: Working with horses requires present-moment awareness (mindfulness). It encourages clients to connect with their bodies and regulate their nervous systems to effectively communicate with the animal.
  • Metaphor and Experiential Learning: Challenges encountered with the horse (e.g., a horse refusing to be led) often serve as powerful metaphors for challenges in the client's own life, allowing for in-the-moment processing and problem-solving.
